Trius Red 2015
I was impatient to taste this Trius Red 2015 from
Niagara. First, I made sure to decant it for a good 45 minutes – As I
mentioned, I am impatient lol. However, the wait paid off as I was pleasantly
surprised to smell its fresh aromas. Blackcurrant, raspberry and violets were
the first to express their perfume, followed by cigar-box, pepper, cedar and
tree moss which blended with elegance. This young Bordeau style wine (cabernet sauvignon,
cabernet franc and merlot blend) revealed flavors of blackcurrant, raspberry,
cedar and a hint of pepper. Trius recommends keeping this wine until 2025, but
I will surely open another in a year or two. I have no doubt the aging process
will further expose its flavors and harmonise its acidity and tannins even
more.
2014 was an amazing year in Niagara for Trius Winery. Still, 2015 will be an agreeable wine to drink with a nice piece of red meat cooked on the BBQ in the summer of 2019. Patience will always be a good ally for wine!
